The View from Ferg

Fergusson Hall has been my home the past few months. It’s on top of a hill too, so we get some great views. Here are a couple from my room.

If you walk out on the lawn, you can see Ruapehu and the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit.

Another place I like to go on the Ferg grounds is the wooden swing, from which you get a really good view of Palmy. If it’s a clear day, Ruapehu and Ngaurahoe are visible too, about 75 miles away.

And if you’re really lucky, you might see the tip of Taranaki, about 110 miles away.

Here’s a zoomed out view, on a different day. Still see Taranaki? 😉

Another of my favorite spots is our “music” room above a shed/garage thing. I mostly go there to study. Looking out you see the rose garden, which actually has a couple roses still left.

Walking around by the cottages, you can see down to Massey University.

To get there you take a staircase through the forest and over a stream, while being serenaded by tuis and mushrooms. The song of the mushrooms is so cool you can’t even hear it.

And we even have a fancy entrance sign! Here’s us back in February, during a car rallay where we ran around with a gnome and took photos.
